Vivian Margaret (Dornath) Wergeland, 91, of Humboldt was called home by our Lord on November 18, 2018 under Hospice Care at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
Vivian, the daughter of John & Meinhardine Dornath was born in Pocahontas county near Palmer, Iowa. She attended country schools in Avery township and attended high schools in Gilmore City, Thor and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1946. After graduation she worked as secretary for Thor Grain Co in Thor. In 1948 she was united in marriage to Glenn Wergeland at Thor Lutheran Church. The couple made their home near Thor and then moved to the family farm. She helped her husband on the farm with the grain farming and livestock. They raised and sold Hampshire and Yorkshire purebred hogs. She loved baking/cooking for family and friends and was known for her cooking skills. They retired in 1989 and moved into Humboldt. She was a member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church. In the earlier years she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was an active member in Circle and Ladies Aid until the later years.
Survivors include her husband, Glenn; her daughter and son-in-law Glenda & Jim Reid of Peoria, AZ, her son David Wergeland of Tucson, AZ, a brother Elven (Jody) Dornath of Humboldt and a sister-in-law Darlene Dornath of Thor; three grandsons Todd, Matthew and Ryan Ledyard; four great-grandchildren Aidan, Noah, Sophia and Connor Ledyard; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Meinhardine Dornath, brother Meinhard Dornath and sisters Minnie Knudtson and Florence Belverud.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service on Friday, November 30th at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. Burial will be in East Ullensvang Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be directed to the church.
