William “Bill” L. Alexander, 77, of Humboldt went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Unity Point Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt with The Rev. J.K. Raether officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Adams American Legion Post 119 and Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post 5240 will perform full military rites. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is assisting the family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Goldie; their two children, Melinda (Cal) Witzke of Dakota City and Curtis (Brandi) Alexander of Fort Dodge; six grandchildren, Chris, Cade, and Lydia Witzke and Blake, Cory, and Casey Alexander. Also surviving are Bill’s brother, Bruce “Smoke” (Teresa) Alexander of Goldfield and many nieces and nephews. His parents, Ed and Adora Alexander and his brothers, Richard “Bubb” Alexander and Jim Alexander, preceded him in death.
Bill was born November 10, 1938 in Glidden, Iowa. After attending school in Glidden and Fort Dodge, he served in the United States Army from 1961-1963. He was united in marriage to Goldie Blackstad on July 4, 1963. The couple resided in Fort Dodge before moving to Humboldt. Bill drove truck for most of his life.
Bill went to his eternal light surrounded by his family.
