William B. Olds, 72, of Dakota City, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Bill was born August 17, 1951 in Fort Dodge, the son of Homer and Frances (Hetherington) Olds. He was a lifelong resident of Dakota City. Bill graduated from Humboldt High School and started working for the City of Humboldt where he was a garbage man for over 38 years in the sanitation department. He was a longtime member of the Modifiers Car Club, served as its president several years and raced at the Humboldt Dragway. After retiring, Bill enjoyed going to auctions, doing jigsaw puzzles, working on his Chevy and tinkering in his garage. He was always there to help when something quit running.
Bill is survived by his sister Eula Stockdale of Dakota City, niece Missy Stockdale (Shawn) Kelley of Gilmore City, nephew J.B. Stockdale (Mathilde) of Coralville, g-nephew and g-niece Jacob Rosendahl and Zelda Stockdale. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob.
