Winton Duane Hansen (Dewey), 89, of Humboldt, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, October 5, 2021 with his family by his side.
He was born September 15, 1932 in Humboldt, the son of Raymond and Elsie (Caryl) Hansen. He was raised and educated in Humboldt, graduating from Humboldt High School in 1951 where he had been captain of the football team. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Joyce Edwards on August 15, 1952. Dewey served in the United States Army from 1953 - 1955 and was stationed in Germany. He worked for Northwestern Bell for 34 years, retiring in 1986. The couple made their home in various cities in Iowa, mostly Urbandale where they raised their family. After retirement, the couple moved to Kimberling City, Missouri where they lived for 24 years before moving back to Humboldt in 2014. He was active in the Methodist Church in Urbandale and Branson. He also coached his boys in Little League, enjoyed playing cards, fishing, woodworking, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and was dearly loved by all of them.
Dewey is survived by his wife Joyce of Humboldt, his sons Raymond (Barbara) Hansen and Steve (Kim) Hansen both of Blue Eye, Missouri, his daughter Paula (Dave) Swift of Urbandale, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, his sisters Ramona Joiner and Marcia Terwilliger both of Humboldt, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Brenda, his parents, his brother Denny, and his sister Joyce Simonsen.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. service on Saturday, October 16th at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt. Burial will take place later at Indian Mound Cemetery. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements.
