Zola Pisel went to be with The Lord on March 3, 2016.
Zola J. Pisel, son of Harry and Etta (Davis) Pisel was born October 14, 1929. He was raised and educated in Gilmore City. After high school graduation Zola attended Coe College where he participated in football, ROTC, and earned a Marksman award. A year later he returned to Gilmore City and worked at a filling station and as a farm hand. In 1948 Zola married Betty Jane Hinrichs. In 1960 the couple moved to the family farm, east of Gilmore City, and took over the family farming operation. The couple engaged in farming until 1992 when they turned the farm over to their son and moved to Gilmore City. After moving to town Zola continued to help with planting and harvest seasons and worked for the Pro Coop on Gilmore City. Through the years Zola filled several community positions including ASC Committee, Humboldt County Cattlemen’s, Weaver Township Clerk, Board of Review, a member of the Izaak Walton League, and of First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City. For the last several years Zola has been a resident of Humboldt Care Center North.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; daughters Rebecca (Steve) Klopfenstein of Rubio, IA, and Zoe Ann (Dick) Warner of Champaign, IL; son, Kirk (Jolene) Pisel of Gilmore City; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Carley (Dody) Pisel, Gary (Barb) Pisel and Don (Judy) Pisel; sister Donna (Bob) Lanus.
In his honor the family will hold a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers condolences may be sent to Betty Pisel * Humboldt Care Center North * 1111 11th Ave. N. 8 Humboldt, IA 50548.
